An illustration I drew as part of a series about Lithuanian food.
Growing up in Lithuania, we had a summer tradition at my grandparents' home of making bilberry dumplings called Šaltanosiai ("Cold Noses"). As a child, I never thought about how funny the name of the dish sounded.
These dumplings are filled with bilberries (wild blueberries), then boiled. In my family we serve with sour cream and a little sugar. I think they're quite a unique dish. In Lithuania, you usually have to go into the forest to pick bilberries yourself or buy them at local markets.
